Since Dr Jim Cox's retirement as Joint Master in June 2005 Michael Thompson has undertaken the Mastership on his own through the most difficult of times. Appreciation both to Jim and especially Michael was given wholeheartedly at the AGM held on October 12th 2006

All the other serving officers and members of the General working committee were reappointed for the 2006/07 season at the AGM

Also ratified at the AGM was the change in our financial year end, brought forward from 30th June to 31st March.  The "one off" impact of this can clearly be seen on our posted accounts with income and list of subscribers well down.   Whilst our expenditure is virtually completed by the end of the seasons activities i.e.31st March, a sizeable proportion of our income from Subscribers is collected during the months of April, May and June.  The limited number of subscribers shown in the accounts will obviously be rectified in the current years accounts which will be published in September 2007.and posted in early October.

Also at the AGM  it was proposed by Michael Thompson and unanimously agreed that Dick Peel be made Honorary Master for the season 2006/7. Dick has modestly accepted this role and has, as ever, made every effort to carry out professionally his existing duties of taking caps, subscriptions, running raffles and welcoming friends from near and far.

We all think he looks very smart in his new waistcoat...

Activity to date

Just as last season we have obtained permissions & strong support from landowners, tenants and farmers within our country to continue hunting within the law for the 06/07 season. We have also obtained licenses or written permissions from the major landowners ( National Trust, Lake District National Park Authority, Dalemain & Lowther Estates and United Utilities) for which we thank them.

Michael and Barry continue to have regular meetings with Cumbria Police combined with phone updates and the daily compilation of an activity log book.
